My Own Golden Ticket to American Idol’s Hollywood Week

One of my favorite parts of American Idol is watching the reaction of contestants who get their “Golden Ticket to Hollywood” after initial auditions. The pure joy, relief, excitement, and pride they show after achieving the first step toward their dreams often brings me to tears. We also have fun picking out early favorites and rooting for them throughout the course of the season.

But then comes…dun dun duuuuun…HOLLYWOOD WEEK.

If you’ve watched the show, you know that American Idol’s Hollywood Week can get a little brutal. Judges have to cut hundreds of hopefuls down to just a handful of final contestants who will get to compete on the show.

Late nights, loads of pressure, a camera crew in your face, having to play nice (and work well!) with total strangers – AND – be absolutely on top of your game vocally? Lots of contestants crumble under the circumstances. But some select few manage to navigate it all and truly shine.

Next week, several other social media savvy women and I are being flow to Los Angeles to witness American Idol Season 13 Hollywood Week for ourselves. We will be guests of the show and will get to:

  • preview what has already been filmed of Season 13 (beginning January 15 and 16!)
  • stay at the hotel with contestants, production crew, and judges
  • get a behind-the-scenes tour of the Dolby Theater’s stage and dressing rooms
  • watch a taping of the contestants perform for the judges

It’s an incredible honor to be included in this journey, and I’m really excited to see what’s in store! I’m also very excited to be *this close* to Harry Connick, Jr., who joins Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban as a judge this year.

You can follow my adventures on Twitter (@StaceyNerdin), my blog’s Facebook Page, or on Instagram. I’ll be taking as many pictures as they’ll let me and share whatever I’m not contractually bound to keep hush-hush ().

Tell me: are you planning to watch American Idol Season 13? What do you think about Harry Connick, Jr. joining the judges this year?

*Disclosure: All transportation and accommodations are being provided by American Idol. No other compensation will be received. I am under no formal obligation to post about this trip. But, well, I’m super excited and happy to share anyway!
