I always forget just how much laundry is involved with the process of moving. Before movers came to pack our house in Texas, I wanted to make sure every article of clothing, bedding, towels, you name it, was clean. I mean, who wants to pack dirty laundry?
And now that we’re on the other side of our move in Oregon, I’m discovering that some things didn’t travel so well in that semi truck across country. Time to hit the washer and dryer again! Only THIS time, I have my brand new Maytag Bravos XL HE Top Load Washer and Maytag Bravos XL High-Efficiency Steam Dryer at work in my laundry room.
Now that I’ve had my new Maytag units for a couple of weeks, I wanted to share a few things I’ve discovered…
5 Surprising Discoveries about my new Maytag Washer and Dryer
1. The Maytag Bravos Dryer has a built-in Airflow Indicator.
When the technician first installed my new units, he did an airflow test and discovered that our dryer vent was in bad need of being cleaned out. Sure enough, after an hour of using a specialty device we bought for the task, my husband was able to extract an alarming amount of packed lint from the dryer vent leading out to the side of the house. It was a serious fire hazard!
Now that the dryer vent is clear, our Maytag Bravos Dryer will help us keep an eye on it. When you turn the dryer on, it begins the detecting process. After about 3 minutes, it will let you know if the airflow is good, or if the vent needs to be checked. As far as I’m concerned, this is a valuable safety add-on and a testimony to the reputation of dependability associated with the Maytag brand.
2. The Maytag Bravos Dryer steam cycle.
“Um…honey…do you have any idea why there is a water hook-up leading into the dryer?” My husband asked me this after he saw our units installed for the first time. He thought maybe the technician made a mistake! I explained to him that the dryer had a water hook-up because of the special Maytag Bravos steam features.
The Maytag Bravos Dryer uses steam to spray a fine mist to touch up loads that have been left in the dryer too long, OR, spray a fine mist during the last phases of a load to help reduce wrinkling. With as forgetful as I can be about unloading the dryer, and with as little time as I have to iron, I think the steam option on the Maytag Bravos Dryer is awesome! These features make me feel like Maytag understands the busy-ness and unpredictability of family life.
3. The controls look and sound like a video game.
Okay, okay, so maybe this is a frivolous thing to be excited about, but my family and I are tickled over how much the Maytag Bravos controls look and sound like a video game.
I mean, Power? Cancel? Start? Pause? Even the little symbols look like game controls! And both the Bravos washer and dryer play a little tune when they are opened and operated. It may seem silly, but it’s amusing, and any chore that gets my kids thinking they are “playing” is a win with me.
Also, do you see how many cycle options there are with the controls? Look right there, near the bottom left – the Maytag Bravos Washer has a special Allergen Cycle that helps eliminate 95 percent of household allergens. Now that we’re back in Oregon, this could be a serious benefit for my husband and youngest daughter, who both have seasonal allergies specific to this area.
4. Capacity, capacity, capacity. Did I say capacity?
Even though I knew these units were “XL” (it’s in their names, after all), I was still surprised by just how big they both are.
I can pour what I think is a “big” load from the hamper into the washer drum, and it hardly makes a dent. I’m practically giddy whenever I get to tip a 2nd hamper over into the Bravos Washer. I cannot over-emphasize how important it is to have my laundry time cut in half (at least…two thirds might even be more accurate). And the Maytag Bravos Dryer dries everything quickly as evenly. The whole process has wiped away my stress when it comes to doing laundry.
5. The clear lid of the Maytag Bravos Top Load Washer.
Again with the frivolous. BUT, it’s just good fun to watch along as the Maytag Bravos Washer goes through each rinse, wash, and spin cycle! I didn’t even stage the picture below – that was my 11yo son who stood mesmerized by the washer during it’s first use!
A little less frivolous is the idea that I can see into the load to double-check if I put something in there or not, all without having to stop the load. AND, the lid locks once the water starts flowing – another awesome safety feature of these units.
I’m excited to discover more features and surprises of my new Maytag Bravos Washer and Dryer, and will be writing and sharing more over the months ahead.
