Translation, Please

Hubby and I went on an impromptu date tonight after the girls’ softball game.  Can you tell by these snippets of conversation that we’ve been together for a while?

(Walking to the car from the drug store)

Me:  We work well together.

Him:  I was just thinking that today at work.

Me:  What?

Him:  That we work well together.

Me:  Hmmm…

(In the grocery store line – I stood at the end of the checkout, next to the bags, while he was paying)

Me:  Sir, would you like some help out tonight?

Him:  Yes, ma’am, that would be very nice.  (others in line chuckle)

Me:  Sir, would you like me to go home with you tonight?

Him:  Well! (he follows me, as I sling the one bag of ours over my shoulder and saunter away)

(In the car on the way home after dinner)

Him:  “Baby love, my baby love….Baby love, my baby love…Baby love, my baby love…Baby love, my baby love…” (a la a broken record)

Me:  (spacing out)

Him:  I’m so disappointed.

Me:  Uh…what?

Him:  You didn’t tell me to be quiet!  The only reason I stopped was because I was annoying myself!

I don’t know what’s funnier to me – that we have totally random communication like this with each other, or that we run errands on our dates!  All I know is that he’s a nut, and I love him.

  • Heh… we call our twice monthly run to Costco “Date night”. We even eat out! (Costco dogs and diet coke on the way home.) 😀

  • Jen

    Oh that is TOOO cute!

  • Mom

I can attest to the truth of this blog! I would call it “divine intervention” that you two found each other! 🙂
